Pilanesberg Nature Reserve is a small reserve nestled in the crater of an extinct volcano that existed 1500 million years ago. Pilanesberg offers the Big 5 and has over 350 trees and 70 grass species. The birdlife is prolific and it’s an easy park to get around in to spot wild dog and cheetah as well as the Big 5.

The Park has two Lodges and two resorts, Bakubung Lodge and Kwa-Maritane Lodge, with Manyane Resort and Bakgatla Resort situated outside the gates of the park. Pilanesberg Centre has a curio shop and restaurant and is in the “hub” of the park and is close to Mankwe Dam. Sun City/The Palace Resort borders the reserve, where you will find The Valley Of The Waves, and activities like golf, watersports and open vehicle game drives/safaris.
